Looking into trying Beulah bay this spring/summer, getting really stir crazy with all this warm weather

Few questions:

1. Highway 200 and 1806 (see map below) How is that highway? heard it was under construction last year did they finish it? is the road nice to travel on?

2. Are there places to get out of the wind? I'm used to fishing McKenzie bay and having all those fingers to get out of the wind but sick of the awful road going into the place. (hence for question #1)

3. Navionics says just outside the bay its 100+ feet, any chance of using a dipsy diver and going for lake trout/salmon??

1) Highways are good. 2) That part of the lake is wide and can get bouncy. If the wind forecast is not to your liking, put in at Beaver Bay. I really like fishing that part of the lake cause one can get away from the crowds. 3) Can't help you there. I prefer a jig or lindy.

There are places to hide from the wind in the stretch of the lake by Beulah Bay, but it can be a rough ride to get to them depending on the wind direction. I've typically had the best luck fishing the North side. If the wind is from the west, west by northwest, or east it's tougher to make the run across. Berthold bay and Nishu bay have some good hiding spots.

I haven't seen many people fishing for salmon that far west, but it's possible. We have picked up a couple over the years while fishing for walleye. Most of the time dedicated salmon fishing is done farther east toward the dam.
