Buick Enclave/Chevy Traverse?

Wife's 2017 Yukon has 87000 miles and thinking about buying a new Enclave or a Traverse.

Anyone from the peanut galley have any experience with either of these 2 vehicles and what's your thoughts about them.

Owned a couple Traverses several years ago. Eventually went to the Enclave. Really liked the Enclave, quiet, smooth ride usually got about 24mpg on the highway. Then last summer Buick decided they didn't need small town dealers and made it very difficult to deal with.Yes I can drive to a larger town to buy an Enclave. I just don't operate along that line.

So my local dealer suggested I try the new Traverse. I was leary as I really did like my Enclaves better than the Traverse I previously owned. Surprise, surprise, Really like my Traverse. It's as quiet as my Enclaves and smooth riding. And I'm getting better mileage with the 4-cyl. Turbo. The only downfall is when you step on the gas pretty good it sounds like a 4-cyl. I'd have no problem buying another new model Traverse.

If it was me I would keep the Yukon and drive it till it dies. That’s low miles. But I don’t like transaxle vehicles.

Have a 2012 Traverse that's been downgraded to the kid's vehicle, and a 2023 Traverse, which was the last year of the "old" body style. The 2012 was nothing special, but it's hauled us around for 12 plus years. The 2023 is a nice vehicle; nice ride and good mileage. The 2012 has had it's share of maintenance items; we'll see how the 2023 does.

Had a 2012 Traverse, sucked in lots of dust. Traded in for a 2015 Enclave and haven't had hardly any dust. I have about 20 miles of gravel to get to pavement,

The Enclave is much better sister has one very impressed, Traverse is ok too not as nice.

Traverse/enclave little extra interior room compared to the sea on small suv's we see today. Traverse is 7"s longer than the Chevy taco just not as tall or wide,"blind spots".... 4cyc under powered for this size of vehicle mpo.

Exactly my thought. I'd do whatever needs done to get rid of that dropping cylinders business and just let it run as a V-8.

For driving the Yukon longer-term, Figure between now and 125K Mi or so you're going to probably need:

Shocks and some front-end suspension wear parts, if/when doing tie-rods or control-arm bushings I'd have them take a serious look @ wheel-bearings and or whole hub assembly. New parts are a lot cheaper than labor 2x
Spark-Plugs
Complete fluid flush of every system (trans, transfer case, diffs, coolant, brakes, power-steering)

There isn't much a person can drive that between 80 and 120K Mi isn't going to need plugs (assuming gas), some suspension work, and a full fluid swap. I guess I just consider that as part of maintenance, not "failures".

Had a 2012 Traverse and now a 2020. They are good vehicles for what they are. I have zero complaints about the 2020.

My wife drives an '18 Enclave. Its a super nice vehicle. They're supposed to be a small step up from traverse. Tighter jams/seals, quieter etc. Rides very nice, has tons of room. Can't remember specks but wasn't much off of a tahoe as far as room. Just put new tires on it and really rides nice. Although my wife misses driving her old tahoe cuz sits up higher. Only has 70k miles and is clean as new. Thinks she wants to sell. Trying to dissuade her but her car I guess. I really like it...good mileage too.

We have a 2016 Enclave that my wife drove and now my son drives. 145k and been a pretty good car. My wife now drives a 2018 (newer body style) Enclave and I hate it. Sure, it is a nice looking car but it has terrible wind noise and squeaks and rattles like crazy. It also has the most uncomfortable drivers seat I have ever had. Those fucking lane departure blocks in the seat cushion dig into my legs and drive me nuts. They also need more cup holders throughout the vehicle. I hate it.

I'd like to try a ford explorer next.

They have a plug or something that eliminates the dropping cylinder thing. Haven’t checked into it cause don’t own one.

New ford explorer with 4 cylinder turbo is gutless and turbo leg from hell..atleast from when i test drove one. V6 explorer would be the way to go if going that route.

We drive bunch of Chevy Equinox Turbo's at work that are just worth not much turbo issues and lag is terrible.

I am now an empty nester, so an SUV, or minivan is completely out, not that I have ever had either.
I have had really good luck with my F150s for the last many years, and keep a F250 for the big jobs.

mrs johnr had a explorer that was really nice, but had a very loud cab, she loved/hated it.

She now drives a Toyota Crown, really sporty, and nifty. She did test drive the Buick SUV, was the Cats ass, but she chose to go with a car this time. We haven't had a car in probably 15 years. They are way quieter for sure.
