The hub style ice houses work nicely... but they are not waterproof. You will get wet if it rains. The rain runs down the roof and comes right through the seems.

The easy solution is a large tarp for a rain-fly though.

Seek out side tipi or tarp or a kifaru saw tooth or tipi. Blue tarp will blow away in wind and just suck in general

12'x12' Cabelas Alaknak with vestibule, bring big buddy heater for mornings and evenings and your set.

I've been using my clam base camp paddlefishing for a few years now, put blue tarp on ground, fold up cot, sleeping bag, big buddy heater, and a CO meter your set.
Learned 2 yrs ago when snow melt came through, not waterproof, so no matter what you use a rainfly is a must!!
Best thing setup and teardown is lightning fast!!

I would suggest an 8 man Cabelas Alaskan Guide. When those early season wind and thunder storms hit your hobo shelter you will wish you were in a dry Cabelas commercial. I would never cheap out on shelter.... Good luck with whatever you do.

Well, i decided to scrap the whole build a tent idea and buy a old small camper ( its actually cheaper and no setting up = more time to hunting).. Thank you for talking some sense into me guys.. :)

Will I have to license a old camper just used for hunting?

I second this, hands down the best tent I've ever owned.
