Does anyone have a camper with a heat pump ? Mine has an electric/gas switch on the thermostat heats good on propane and electric as long as there is propane but if it runs out of propane the electric doesn't work. When on electric and there is propane I can hear the scroll pump start and stop and it throws good heat. Is that by design ? how they are supposed to work ? Ive only used it to cool up until this year and it will freeze you out even with a 20 amp breaker and a long extension cord but in heat mode it needs propane to work proper. I have all the books that came with it but no mention on the heating system.

Furnace make/model would help. On some units such as the Colemans on ice castles the electric heat strip kit needs to be installed if you want electric heat.

I'm not at the camper now but I didn't see any sticker that showed model # . It's just a small unit that must charge the heat pump or something. I thought I knew a little bit about heating systems but campers are a different breed of cat. Previous owner had troubles with it and put in a new thermostat but still it shouldn't need propane to run on electric mode.
