All about the $$,Canadians keep f ing around with tourism...last I checked tourism was down 50%...this was Ontario, money rate of exchange is close to the American $ why bother traveling to Canada? Or maybe we non-rez will hunt a different province.

I haven't been to canada for years because of the politics not to mention a pain getting back to the states.

The guides up there are shoving it through. They don't want the competition from freelance hunting. No different than in the states. If somebody can make money off wildlife they will try to limit access.

Crazy part is they are cutting there own throat. With how one version of the bill was would limit client numbers even. From what I read it’s a couple of big whiners up there screwing everyone.

In concert with the Manitoba Wildlife Federation and the Manitoba Lodges and Outfitters Association, Manitoba officials justify the non-Canadian waterfowl-hunting plan, saying it:

• Prioritizes resident hunting opportunities and access to the resource.

• Prioritizes existing licensed outfitting businesses "such that their services are highly sought after by clientele from across Canada, the U.S. and the world.''

• Ensures that non-outfitted, foreign residents accessing Manitoba waterfowling opportunities are sustainable and at numbers tolerable by Manitobans.

WTF.....Wildlife Federations are usually against the commercialization of wildlife. Bottom line, there will be less water fowlers in Manitoba. In 1978 there were 55,000 water fowlers. Today in Manitoba, 10,000 and going down.

Another wedge issue used by wildlife orgs to slowly end hunting. Get used to seeing this tactic employed successfully. Once the general low to medium income public gets tired of endless hoops, fees and regulations they’ll stop hunting - then guides will be outvoted and helpless to stop total bans.

Have seen discussion on another site about this, Manitoba residents saying they don't want to become like ND where there's 4 trucks parked next to any field that birds are using. It is too bad they included the dedicated licenses for the outfitters though.
