Though I don't agree with it, I can understand Facebook taking a stance on firearms and not allowing the private sale of them on the platform. BUT, I recently upgraded bows and have been trying to sell my old one. Since I am a part of a fair amount of hunting related groups, selling equipment has usually been easy.

Well, this time my "for sale" ads were all taken down and flagged as "Firearms or other illegal objects". So I figured it was a mistake so I appealed the post and wrote that it was "A piece of archery equipment". Two days later I get a reply from facebook stating that the banned post was correct and that compound bows were against their terms.

I think its because the bow is black and has some schnazzy accessories that classify it as an assault bow.. Lame.

you can sell anything you want until they discover it. They have certain words, etc. that their system pics up to trigger a look at what is for sale. Can't sell livestock or pets either but it's done all the time. Just don't mention what it is in the heading and only show price in the comments tends to help a bunch.

Bfishin- I absolutely see your point. I'm not a huge facebook fan, but since I utilize it so much for my business, It is a necessary evil. Also, Where else is there the opportunity to put an ad out in front of a few thousand people. I figured what the heck.

Fly- I'm working on it. The image hosting thing was a bit of a pain on mobile, so it got put on my to-do list. Figured I'd complain first.

Just use Archerytalk, not near as many potential buyers, but I have had decent success selling stuff on there.

For your own good, Aaron. Imagine how you’d feel if you turned on the news to see a kid carrying out a mass school sticking with your old bow.

I wouldn’t try to sell anything like bows or crossbows on Facebook anyway. Not many bow buyers there anyway. I’d use something like the many other local and national outdoor websites, BisMan Online, Finder or some website populated with hunters. Dunno if Craigslist or any of the other for sale websites allow bows. I bought my last bow on E Bay but that was a few years ago and I rarely look at that one any more. More on line places disallowing guns to be politically correct and avoid the no background check thing but bows, I’m surprised!
You don’t need a background check for bows, and last I heard there haven’t been any mass killings or bank robberies with bows or slower to load crossbows! Not the weapon of choice for anything other than deer, elk, moose, attacking prairie dogs, etc.

There are some groups on facebook for selling archery equipment. More than a guy would think. Archerytalk, you will probably get less than you think for your bow on there, just so many for sale there. It is a good place to sell on though if you want exposure and to move the bow quickly for cheap.

Archery for sale and trade is a large group that has a lot of stuff for sale. Post a pic of what you have and caption it with "up for discussion". Then in the comments put the specs and price.
Also there are groups for specific brand owners, such as "Xpedition Archery Owners" that you can sell on.

Lincoln, kinda...
I know someone who recently got the ban from a facebook selling group, the bisman one. The offense appears to be linked to the purchase of a gun case.

At least, that's the best we can come up with. All they say is "you are in violation of the rules", without saying which rule you broke.

A gun case!?! The word GUN must have been picked up by some computer software!
Should have called it a tranquil padded sleeper for a copper and lead projectile hurling apparatus, developed specifically to protect historically developed mechanicalwooden and steel implements. (but not squirrel hurting blow thingy) don’t use the word gun in blowgun! Have to outfox computer software programs.

at least you got a response from them.... 3 weeks ago I was trying to sell an atn x-sight 2 and it was blocked.... posted it to 9 different pages and every single one was blocked... even tried using tricky wording to get it posted... no go.... ended up have like 27 different appeals going for the same damned item and never heard 1 word back from them...
