Kids would have written something, or made designs, its too patterned and boring for that IMO... Seriously, if you were a kid doing this, wouldnt you have drawn a hand with the middle finger up or something at least remotely original? haha

Thats what it looks like to me also, or how the snow from a street snow blower might pile up on the grass. I was thinking street salt, but evidently they tested for that...

The thing that would tell me it wasnt salt is that there isn't a lot of sand with it and being that it is not the grass of the berm which would be also dead.

I would guess it is from something to do with moving snow . The article didnt mention any signs of it being that way last fall. And it should have been at least a little noticeable being it is a bike/walking path correct?
