I like the concept if the geology is right for it. I always thought that renewable energy storage batteries should be underground. Design a 20' long battery inside of double casing and drill and install. clone them in a wellfield grid as needed for capacity needed, It's a perfect environment for a battery.

Interesting. Had an uncle that was around nuclear power in the Navy. Not sure exactly what his job was, but he was close to it. He thought it was a great source of energy, right up until you started paying civilians by the hour to maintain it.
