There's big fish to be found, and although the good fall bite is still a little ways out, they are starting to go. 20lbs a day may get you to fish Saturday, but I think it will take more to win it. Do the weights clear after the first 2 days? I know the field is cut to 10 after the first 2 days and only top 10 go out last day. Whether or not the weights zero for the final day will make a difference as someone on a big bite the first 2 days could run away with it. The always x factor is the weather, supposed to cool down some with fairly steady winds out of the west. Guessing 25-28lbs/day will win.

A Barbie rod and reel with a large red bobber with a plain hook and an icky earthworm:::. No..my guess is 50plus pounds(to get to Saturday) with the winning team using no live bait.

I don't know what to think--- I was up last week --- and talking to some of the pros it was sporadic for them-- my fishing the same over and over 13 inch fish. Had two pike grab on to the eyeballs and not let go --- you couldn't even knock them off with the net. Typical late summer pattern imo. Could be tougher fishing for big fish. The wind has been brutal too.

It's a game of the haves and the have nots.

I had to check that out, "Winners determined by heaviest cumulative weight for three days." What are the water temps now compared to mid august ?

It's going to be interesting. Some fisherman have been actually going up Channel A, thru Dry Lake, and making it as far as Mikes Lake in practice. There's some really nice fish up there as well as on Devils Lake itself. And there's always a few who figure out where those big girls are hanging out. My guess for weights would be it'll take a minimum of high 60's to win and it could be closer to 80 lbs..

From Walleye Central: Heard someone decided to dig a trench in 281 to get on the other side of the road. DNR and county didn't like it and were present @ rules meeting saying a big fine for anyone crossing the road? Someone took a huge risk, guess their plans changed now.

See what you did now -- at least they blamed some NWT contestant. ;:;boozer

As far as the county or g&f are concerned - why would there be a fine? I could maybe see someone getting dq'ed from tournament i guess if they consider that out of bounds, but other than that it makes no sense.

Idk -- I am assuming where the chamber and last tournament was won with the small boat. If it was the MN DNR they would roast a person for touching it. It wont be long and we will using 281 again.

almost correct shorthairsrus. I think the small boat guys finished 2nd. I think both team members had Rangers but didn't use either and instead used a smaller boat to go where others couldn't or wouldn't.
