them mofos. its no god damn wonder they never get over the hump. other than baby jesus, they have dumped every good player they have ever had in the last 15 years. and a darn good argument can be made that he should have been dumped. except in baseball its guaranteed money and nobody would have taken him on trade cause the contract was so outrageous. can someone cite one exception?

SOME of the trade mistakes with known names: Viola(although we got Tapani and Aggie), Joe Nathan, Tori, Johan Santana, Mientkiewicz, Cuddy and on an on. Yeppers... we develop them as good as anyone and send them down the road packing when we don't want to pay a competetive price for them..some things never change.
The wife is a die hard Twins fan. I told her to quit buying jerseys...as soon as she does, they get traded! hahaha..She quit buying after Tori. haha

Mauer has a full no-trade clause. They place him on waivers every year just to gauge interest. There never is and it wouldn't matter because he doesn't want to play anywhere else anyway and would veto the trade. I put it at 51% chance he retires after this season.

Bigger changes than this are coming. Molitor will be fired. The team will be un-recognizeable on opening day next year.

Also, Nathan, Cuddyer, and Hunter were never traded. The Twins let them walk. Hunter because of his price tag, Cuddy and Nathan because they thought they could do better (debateable).

As a Red Sox fan, than you for David Ortiz. Even Meinea;lenfa;navich was fun to have at first base. Never could hit the broad side of a barn though. Anyone wanting to slap a piece of wood against a ball without wearing gloves, has my respect.

The Twins are a few years late on this.....need to truly rebuild. Not this half ass attempt where we keep Buxton and Sano, then go get our "key" starting pitchers in Lynn and Odorizzi. I'm sick of the Pohlads, we need the Wilfs to buy the team!

Wasn't the right time those few years (not that long ago) that we lost 90+ games each season?

Lynn is gone already but they'll keep odorizzi and buxton and sano . It'll never change . They want us fans to be satisfied with years like last year

I try take the family to a game every year, this year i pulled the plug on that idea. Its the same mediocre shit, keep barely relavant, give the fans just enough hope, and like others have posted- they let the good players either walk or get traded. Twins will always be on the low end for payroll vs other teams because the owners like fat pockets not championships.

I think it’s funny everyone is so upset with these moves. These “great” players had the team 9 games out of first place in a terrible division where barely over .500 would have gotten them into the playoffs this year. These moves had to happen.

Going to buy a sports channel so I watch the Dodgers play instead of the Twins. They are not going to win 15 of their last games I predict. After watching their loss last night I don't see the WANT-TOO WIN anymore. Just disgusted, I guess I don't understand. ;:;banghead

It's the Twins way, trade your best players for prospects, once any of them show signs of life at the big league level trade them for more prospects, rinse and repeat. They are a glorified minor league club for the serious teams that want to win.

Mauer makes me sick, granted he is getting up there but he got paid that money to be a catcher not a DH 1B imagine the DH or 1B a guy could have got with mauer money, I want 30+hr and 100+RBIs out of those position not a .280 singles hitter.

Gotta admit that I don't think they had a choice at this point with Dozier. He wasn't coming back next year cause someone would out bid us. They should have locked him down before it got to this point. But, had they done it at the end of last year, he would have asked for the Vatican city to be relocated to his private island. So....

This is the moment where it all changed. Doesn't look like much but his reaction is hard to watch. He was never the same after.

I don't have a problem with any of their trades this year. It sucks to lose Dozier and Escobar though because I like them as players but they aren't big time guys. Escobar has been "ok" his entire career but nothing special, hes just having a really good year this year. Dozier is good and obviously a fan favorite but he was a free agent at the end of the year and he would have wanted too much for what hes worth. Twins are getting rid of "good" players on a team that mediocre at best every year. If these type of players were on teams like the Yankees, Red Sox...etc nobody would even bat an eye. Its not like the Twins are getting rid of star players.

Uhhhh Escobar led all of mlb in doubles....he was also a great guy liked by all of his teammates in the clubhouse. Suppose you thought they weren’t getting rid of talent when they let Ortiz go too.

I agree 7mm. I like escobar and dozier, however your best players can't be middle infielders, your team can't be led in HR's by a dam 2nd baseman. Your big money players gotta be SP and corner infielders, and at least one outfielder than can hit dingers. Building a winning team around a "fan favorite" hasn't gotten them shit in a long time- see Hunter, Mauer, Dozier- etc. They need an entire change in philosophy and culture or they will be mediocre forever. I stopped watching the twins a few years ago other than the odd late game when nothing else is on the tube. Get me a few guys to drive in some runs and some pitchers that miss bats and maybe I'll come back around.
