To piggyback on the migration thread....I snuck out last night and had a quick mallard shoot right at dark. Got this hen mallard/pintail hybrid. Confirmed by biologist. Have only seen a few. Anyone else get something like this?

Mallard drakes will hump anything with a pulse. Shot a beautiful hybrid pintail x mallard in 2013. Dropped it off at Roughrider Gamebirds. We all know how that story ends
So true....ive got a creek in my back 40,poor hen mallards getting gang banged all spring, usually 3 or 4 drakes on one hen,mid air collisions are common, poor hens...trying to shake those horny drakes.

Listened to an interesting Meateater podcast the other day, talking about some duck species crossing genetics and more. I will need to listen to it again a little closer as I was listening while busy doing other things.
