For fine dining id go to the Tru Blu social club or maxwells. (I'll vouch for the primerib & lobster at Tru Blu.)

For the ppl like myself that wana go eat in my boots, hat, and hoodie I'd go with Doolittles, porter creek, or spitfire. (Can't get better rotisserie chicken than from Doolittles or spitfire.)

If it's a group of ppl id hit up the steak, shrimp, and chicken off the hibachi at kobes. (Not going to lie, it's my fav steak but it usually takes a little group of ppl for us to go.)

So many good places downtown to eat but i hate the crowdiness and parking of downtown so I stay away.

Haven't had a steak but the Walleye Tacos at Lucky 13 are excellent.

Most amazing fish tacos ive ever had were the Cajun walleye tacos at Lucky 13's in Bismarck. Insanely good and I am picky about ever ordering fish from a restaurant

Fargo is by far one of the worst "big" cities for food.
That being said,
Spitfire is your best bet by far.
Porter creek is very lame, tries to be high a high class place but food was rather blah, many people are fooled by a price/quality fallacy.
Because the price is high, your perception of the quality may be inflated.
Really your best off just hittin the ChikFilA.

I have heard wonderful things about the India Palace??

maxwells is one of the best restaurants in the state. stuff is a bit expensive. but, not too crazy. most entrees are sub $40. everything but the waygu ribeye is sub $50. if all you do is get an app and a couple of entrees, a couple can get a great meal for less than $100 plus tip. but, start adding booze or wine and it adds up in a hurry.

My wife and I don't don't eat out but 1-2 times a year in Fargo, between both of us here are some of our favorites if we are treating ourselves in no particular order
Doolittles
Spitfire
Blarney Stone
JL Beers
Lucky 13
Lucy's North China Cuisine (not a buffet) if you go get something different not just the usual buffet fried types types. Braised Lamb Sichuan, Yu Hsiang Shredded Pork and Chinese Cucumber Salads are some of my favorites
Wurst Beir Hall-on list to try

let me break this down for you guys we have a burger king, taco johns and dairy queen. A few sit down places that are open every now and then and then are hit and miss can be really good or horrible. So the selection every one here has listed sounds awesome and my mouth is watering. I dont envy much about not living in a bigger city but food selection is one of them. Thanks for all the replies now we will have a meeting to decide where to go:cool:

If i wanted to be guaranteed an amazing steak i would for sure go to Kobes. Its chinese or oriental or whatever but its hands down the best steak ive consistently had at a restaurant. All other suggestions you really cant go wrong with either

Granite City or Lucky 13.

on a side note from my earlier post..granite city has AMAZING mahi mahi fish tacos. These two places are the only places I will get fish tacos from and they are well worth it. Otherwise I never order fish..

I was hoping someone would answer your question with _________ has the best steak in town.

The great American steak Buffet was a meat eaters paradise but they closed and I havent found a good steak in Fargo since.

Still have never tried Kobes I forgot to throw that on the to try list.
For the most part when traveling or going out to eat I almost never get steak because I find myself disappointed besides Montana Steak and Chop in Billings (the lamb chops were phenomenal when I tried them).

If only one day and want something different I always really like to do different. Something like Kobes is probably where I would head, especially if you can do a family or group and do a hibachi, I have never had bad food from the 3-5 I have ever done and the price has been worth it.

U WILL NOT be disappointed in kobes steak and they cook it right in front of you. Mix it with some Sake, fried rice with yum yum sauce and side of mermaid roll and ur having my last meal request.
