I had taken the buck on the right quite a few years back and 5 years later I took the one on the left in about the same spot. I'm thinking the one on the left is a descendent of the one on the right.

When the taxidermist was doing mine he was sending me pictures to see if I liked it. By the time I got to the point that I liked it I had him move the ears like 4 or 5 times.

I love quality taxidermy, tough to look at one that looks more like a smiling field mouse! I always tell folks, you have to look at it forever. Spend the extra couple hundred bucks. Short haired archery bucks look great with forms that show more shoulder muscles. Joe Coombs has some really nice wall pedestal ones.
Mine on the left is on one. That mounts probably 20 years old, still looks pretty good.

Ear positioning to me is key. Those mounts look nice!

This gets my vote. Hands down!
SDMF loaned me a muzzleloader for that buck. He had quire a big scar on his nose. Still has stuffing in nostrils at taxidermist’s in that pic.

That deer had an unusually short “roman” snout.

I asked the taxi to cock the one ear because they’re constantly surveying for sound.

Although I've got quite a few whitetails mounted, I can say none are " great".
All are just " good".
Taxidermy is an ART. Great artist get more $$.
