One just farted really bad and the smell is burned into the fabrics in the room.

She won't own up to it so it goes as an unknown odor.

Oh the memories of the ol stinky college dorm room trick. Nothing like a very small piece of limburger cheese under a bed or in the corner, the smell never fades even after months. While in college 25 years ago this was a common prank in the dorms. We put some on a radiator heater in one room one day and it back fired and stunk up the entire building, had to go back in again and clean it up for all of our own sake before the occupant go back from classes.

My neighbor/teammate back in the college dorms once stashed a can of sardines in my room, you couldn't smell it at first but after a few days it stunk the whole hallway up while we were away at a track meet, had quite the visit from the dorms resident advisor when we got back
