day 2 in the morning it was rough, took me probably 30 min to get to the north side of the lake and the wind kept me closer to the ramp... My fishing partner has said that it takes a lot to make me nervous and he has been in my boat when its been out of the water and both of those days I was not enjoying my ride... my legs cramped up after my ride on day 1... I really looked at the ZV21 but there are a few things about it that I just don't like (tracker brand and full carpet are the big 2 turn off's)
I was in 2nd flight day 1 and 1st flight day 2...

I just want to say to all the people who don't understand why I am upgrading my boat from an 18.5' to a 21.5' it really is 90% the big wind and big waves that come up on sak, and the weather man isn't usually right, 5% speed and 5% storage... I want to have fun and fish tournaments but if I can't make it home to my family its not worth it to me or when I do get home I am so beat up that I can't move it is also not worth it... so the bigger badder faster better boat makes that more possible... and hell who doesn't want a 43mph to 65(ish)mph jump in speed... the big waves is also one of the reasons I am getting the ranger also... the foam fill makes it a safer boat it also makes it a stiffer boat which I kind of hope stronger maybe?

If I did tournaments and took them seriously and did them with the intent to win I would want a 21' fiberglass with a 300 or 350 motor.

I don't fish tournament and don't enjoy crashing into 5' waves if I don't need to. The big fish bite on nice days too so I can wait! If you have a big boat and don't do tournaments and don't fish windy days then I think it's just a measuring contest. Same as bringing 6 pound limits to the cleaning station when you know the anglers are not hurting for fish in the freezer.... That discussion for another day.

I would not mind fishing a tourney or 3, especially with my son as he gets older. I want a 21 footer because I can take my entire family out (5) and not feel crammed on board and yeah we could do a 19 and make it work but I am no longer a settler; so no more grey water soup, cabbages and family lollies. I fish Sak 99.99% of the time and would never launch in 5s but like being in something that handles it when it gets rough.

If ya buy a 20 or 21 and slap a 300 or 350 and a kicker on the transom, enough electronics to make a fighter pilot jealous, etc... enjoy your rig. Just about everybody talking about paychecks, fishing abilities, comparing and compensating for stroke length, stamina and girth as the real reason for buying a big boat would love to have one anyway. Life is too short to not enjoy it.
