Large snails, baitfish, mud puppies also frequented the tanks. Too much fish and waste can cause ammonia poisoning, and too much bait and feed will also increase the waste.  So all the times it seems like the aquarium had a die off or disease issue was when a guy would get too greedy and add an extra fish or put too much bait in the tank.I have always wanted a saltwater set up because the fish are so much cooler, but the reported expense and time required has scared me away. Sounds more like a hobby, and I have enough of those.- - - Updated - - -As mentioned above, I would say a single bluegill was the longest lasting and thus most successful resident in the tanks.
