I get 9 pulling a camper with my 2013 cummins and around 17-18 without. Best I got was 24 going to grand forks with a 20mph tail wind. I really don't care what a pickup gets for mpg as long as it gets me where I'm going. My wife has one of them pos ford's with the little ecoboost and only gets about 30.

Last Sunday my my 16 tundra with 300 miles on it I pulled my Skeeter 1850 to alkaline I got 13'6 going and 9.6 with a decent head wind coming back to Bismarck. I hope my mileage goes up a little as it breaks in I'm not expecting miracles. the plus side to this TRD Pro model the ride is a world difference from my rock warrior model.

I was shocked that a Chrysler T/C doesn't get better gas milage than that.

Maybe if I went down a tire size............

Really though. It's the E85. It's about a 30% down in MPG to run E85 in this rig. It rarely ever pays off, but there was a short window this summer where it did. Now I'm back to E10.

2012 Tundra Double Cab: Minot to Devils (only pull boat around Devils) back to Minot over the weekend I get 15.7mpg everytime. It's 120 miles to Devils I probably pull the boat another 75 miles over the weekend.

I pulled my boat back to Minot a few weeks ago. I bucked a 20mph wind. Pickup had 9.9mpg. That was pulling it at 75 (Chevy wouldn't have done that with that wind and would have been 8mpg at 60mph).

I took it to the Bison game last week and took Hwy 52 to Fargo. Round trip, I was at 13.3 mpg. That was with about 50% E85. I like the pickup, it has a lot more power than my 2004 5.3 Silverado and better mileage.

I sat in the back seat from Carrington to Minot I wanted to see how comfortable the back seat is. I sat behind my buddy riding shotgun. He didn't have the seat cranked forward and we were both comfortable.

All my Chevy's have been good to me. I really like my Tundra.

Anyone running an ecodiesel? I'm curious as to what North Dakota mileage is. I've read a lot about them, but most of the mileage reports are from down south with warmer weather and slower speed limits.

Played with my econ indicator all the way to Fargo and back and learned a few things. 08 ford with 5.4 engine ,Sticker EST MPG 13/17

10% ethanol 87 octane. Mostly drove 65 MPH as I went through Carrington both ways. Had a strong headwind and a bulky load with the end gate down but load catching some wind on the way down 15.3 MPG. In the end, the computer and the pencil were within 2/10th of a MPG even though I had reset the indicator several times during the trip. 15 miles were city miles .

On the way back I started out at 15 with the air conditioner on and end gate shut. turned the air off and reset and gained 1 MPG . Stopped and opened end gate, gained another MPG. I was right at 17 MPG most of the way but when the sun went down I was in the high 17s ended up 17.8 for the last hour and a half of the trip. I have seen it with old tractors when the sun went down they pulled a lot better because the air gets heavier, With fuel injection I didn't think it would make a difference but i'm guessing heavy air must clear the cylinder better on the exhaust stroke. Or it might a been some wind that went down after dark. In a nutshell, I was ok but not doing cartwheels over 17.8 MPG, I actually thought it was getting under 15 on the highway. It made the drive less boring with all the tinkering going on.

Stalker, I'm impressed with your spreadsheet , I did it on heavy equipment for a while but it was a pain. I think I will start keeping better track of my highway miles from now on.

Assuming 3/4T, a new diesel from Chevy, Ford, or Dodge isn't going to net you any better average over 180K assuming mixed driving, unless you're going to slow down to <70MPH.

Pulling I run about 7-9 mpg. Diesel pickups will beat that at least the 2002 dodge pickup with hydra bale feeder we have have at home will not sure about the new paint on the market.

pulling a light load like a 18ft boat or a ranger/atv or something the diesels will get way better than 7-9. However throw a 13k camper and a 4-5k boat behind it at highway speeds and you will be in the 7-10. Just my 18ft boat tandem axle trailer i get 13-14 @70 mph, on interstate 11-13 @80mph. camper and boat interstate 8-9, and 9-11 under 70 mph. If it goes through a stupid regen you can take -1-2 mpgs for that trip. unloaded @80 i get 15-17. Under 70 mph its 17-19 unless it regens on an 09dmax.2500. for what its worth.

My 11 Ford 6.7L PSD is pretty much identical except I can't say with any certainty how I'd do pulling double as I never have. Pulled my 28' bumper hitch camper 1 time @ 65-68MPH and got 9MPG.

MT11 you're right that pulling light the diesel will beat what you're seeing, however, over 180K of mixed driving I doubt you'd be more than 1/2MPG off of the 13.5 you posted above.
