Been on the fence about getting one the last couple years and with projects piling up, need to get one.
I have burned though a couple cheap electric ones in the past, so want to get a good gas one.
Is there a big difference in GPM and MAX PSI? some go from 2.0 GPM up to 3 .0 GPM? Looking to spend about $300 I would like to get a Honda powered one

Dads got a Honda one. I think it's a 6.5 hp. It's been a kick ass machine. I'll check with him tonight and get the exact model.

I agree on the Generac "One Wash". Bought one last year and it's a great machine. Picked mine up at Menards.

I bought the new Yamaha pressure washer a couple years ago and am quite happy with it. I like the eco-throttle that powers down when you are not spraying (easier on the pump as well), and I really like the adjustable nozzle with the different heads built right in.

So my real question much of a difference does all the PSI / GPM stuff make….I am not looking to peel the paint off a car, just normal around the house applications…power washing fence, deck…maybe clean off the exterior of the house and driveway…an occasional vehicle or two…. Obviously the bigger the numbers the more powerful but for example Lowes has a Troy-Built on sale with 2800-PSI 2.3-GPM, which I think is good Troy-built is a decent brand and powered by a Briggs & Stratton which is not my first choice…oh but wait here is another one: Troy-Bilt XP 3000-PSI 2.7-GPM for $100 more….for those that have owned pressure washers does the PSI/ GPM really make that big of a difference????

I feel the best purchase is one that doesn't fall apart and has more than 2,700psi. PSI is important because it's the amount of water that can be forced on to your cleaning surface. However, if you go up to a 3,500psi you can also peel paint off from your vehicle.

I believe my Brute machine is 2,800 only because of the cost factor. I was really looking for a 3,000psi but couldn't find on in the price range I was looking to buy. What I don't like about the Brute brand is they're made more economical so lots of zinc used instead of stainless steel. No rusting, but wears out much faster. I've already replaced two pieces on my 3rd year of use.

Think of all that you could use it for:
1) Driveway
2) Boat
3) Car/Truck
4) ATV
5) Mower/mower deck
6) Weed wacker
7) House siding
8) Decking
9) Dog kennel run
10) Garage floor
11) Motorcycle
12) Kid's dingleberries

Ours has the Honda motor too and we bought it in 1996. Depends on how much you use it. We change oil at least once or twice a year depending on how much it is used and for how long. Oil is cheap. We also change oil in our water pump on it once per year. 30 weight non-detergent. Ours is 2400 PSI, 6.5 HP, 3 gallons per minute. You can throttle down the motor too when doing decks or something where you don't need that much pressure. We used ours a lot on the farm washing 4 wheelers, bobcats, and the bottom of the lawn mower decks. Just make sure your mower deck is cool so the water doesn't go up the spindle shafts and take your bearings out.
Got it at Sam's back then but ours doesn't have the changeable nozzles. Wish it did at times.

This is one of the items that Northern Tool does well. Check them out before buying anything. Their Fargo store also services what they sell and even competitors washers.

I have a Honda and it's worked great. As far as the GPM, most of that will be determined by what type of nozzle you use. If you use a standard flat fan nozzle and modest pressures, the 2 gpm will work just fine. If you are going to use it to clean concrete with a "Hammer" type nozzle that sends out a rapidly rotating curl of water so that the water "Hammers into the substrate" then the 3 gpm is better. I would go with the biggest most powerful one you can buy as long as it has adjustable pressure. Adjustable pressure IS THE KEY to being happy with a pressure washer. Enjoy!!!

You know when I saw the thread title first thing I thought of was a washing machine.

I had an old Maytag wringer washer with a 2 hp Briggs in the 70's. It was cool to fire it up and let it run, I've never owned a washer that got clothes cleaner than that old Maytag.

I know people who use these to wash potatoes.
