The Tragically Hip, i.e., the greatest band no one has ever heard of, lost their frontman Gord Downie yesterday from an aggressive and incurable form of brain cancer.

The ironic part is that he died on my birthday yesterday, and this is what my wife gave me for a birthday gift. She ordered it a couple months ago. It's a limited edition photograph from their last ever concert in Kingston last September. Lucky enough to have seen them several times including this "goodbye" tour last year.

I would have loved to see them. I grew up listening to 92 citing in Winnipeg. I love Canadian rock. Except for Nickleback.

I grew up near Crystal (15 min south of Cavalier). I could get 92 CITI to about 1 mile south of Hoople. It was a sad day during my senior year when 92 CITI changed their programming to classic rock. They are still classic rock, but apparently Nirvana now qualifies as classic rock. F I'm old. So I listen to 92 when I chase greenbacks. Power 97 was great, but I had to be at Cavalier or north to get that station. Tom and Joe on 92 CITI were hilarious.

I also enjoyed 92 CITI growing up. Listened to them alot in the tractor or on jobsites when I worked construction during the summers in high school.

Speaking of being old, South Park's barber shop quarter rendition of some great songs from my school/college years is hilarious.
