For those that have their heads under a shell, or just don't care, the Governors Cup is this week!!!!!

Im in; out first flight on day 1 as Team #17. Finding some fish but a pattern is not as easy.

Who else is in it from on here?

Im gonna say 5.5-6lb average takes home the $15k I don't think we have as many of the quality fish down here like Van Hook has. Thoughts?

(spool of rigs would be their custom tied rigs)

Yeah 50-60# is waaaay high. I guess there is always a possibility of one guy catching a couple giants to put him up there, but i would guess upper 30's to low 40's wins. Ill put my official guess at 38.5#

I will be donating to the governors cup money winners again this year. Should be fun as always. I'm going to guess 44.24 wins it and I'm going to guarantee it won't be me and my partner. Good luck to those fishing the cup.

I'd say top 5 will be 40 pounds or better. Winners in the mid to upper 40s. Could easily see a 27-30 lb bag coming in but doing it two days in a row will be the tough part as always. Have a feeling you will see a lot of 17-19 lb bags.

Prefishing has been excellent 23 to 25 inch fish has been common for me. But four days is a long time and a lot can change. Been seen several hogs laying on the cleaning table. That doesn’t help us much.

Been on the east end as much as anyone this year, I have had a couple 2 day 10 fish 5 lb average day totals and a 2 day 10 fish 6.5 lb average. There will be a boat that finds the big school. guessing 56.5 lbs. Not fishing the tourney though...

Only twice has the winning weight been above 50# 1980-1981. The last 4 years have been 32-36.

I'm gonna say the winning weight will be over 52# and to be in the top 5 you'll have to be over 42#.

From what I am seeing, I think the winning weight will be a little higher this year than the past couple years. There are some quality fish on the east end this year. There are 25# plus bags out there, just really hard to do that two days in a row. I wouldn't be shocked if someone came in with 50lbs, but I think it's more likely that somewhere around 40lbs will win.

My official guess is 41.75 pounds for the win, and 30#'s as the money line cut off.

Forgot to mention we are in. Flight 1 on day 1.

50+ pounds is more than doable this year. As was said earlier, to do it 2 days in a row on the big girl is hard to do. you can almost bet on garrison bay putting out a few big stringers. good luck to those fishing

Prefished for the Governor's Cup last night..........................................::thinking:: oh wait I'm not fishing the cup. Anyhow started fishing at 6:30 pm and was done at 8:30 pm with my 5, threw back 1 and missed 4 others. Same place I fished the week of the 4th of July. Main lake point in 15' to 17' of water orange smile blade with a slow death and a Gulp 4" pumpkin seed crawler. 16" to 19" with the big one at 23" that was deep hooked and bleeding to bad to put back. :( Limit 7-17.jpg

There are some big fat fish down on the east end so you just need to find them. So much forage to eat I bet fishing would be better without the smorgasbord of baitfish. I bet winner takes it at 49.7
