I travel Burleigh Ave in south Bismarck daily and am sickened by the snowmobilers cutting through the tree rows at the Lincoln Oaks Nursery. Those tree rows hold countless pheasants, deer, cottontails and running up and down them will stress them in an already wicked winter. I called the 1 800 hotline and was told that if the Nursery doesn't complain nothing can be done. So, if you or your kid is joy riding at the expense of our wildlife, shame on you.

The nursery already has no snowmobile signs up. That said they are in there playing on the big drifts on the east side of a few of the rows just like I did as as kid and i hunted the Grove back then to for deer so harassing the wildlife may just be a side affect of them having a little fun. Call up the office and see if they will call it in as they normally don't like guys out there due to people not recognizing the 6-inch sticks sticking out of the ground are their crop for next spring and people hitting their irrigation pipes and busting them. Many of the birds I saw out there today we're flying back into the neighborhood north of burleigh and west of Washington Street so would guess someone is feeding them back there.

That's the same almost everywhere. Basically the only safe haven there is left for wildlife with all the snow. Please recreationalists, leave the tree claims and rows alone.

I've never understood why snowmobilers feel like they are above the law. Just because they can go about anywhere, doesn't mean they have the right to do so. Some of them deserve to hit the barb wire fences that are covered by drifts.

Ain't that the truth, once we have a blanket of snow riders think they can ride anywhere and everywhere and agree it does effect our wildlife in these harsh conditions.

I am sledless as we speak, but if I still had one I would be riding it all over hell like a boss.

What really boils my blood is the jokers that ride around in town at 2-3 times the posted speed limit, on snow machines that aren't even street legal. Sick of going to bed listening to those loud things. I'm sure I'd have a hayday on one if I owned one, but I'd be respectful and take it out of town. Just about ready to call the cops...wife says I'm turning into a grouchy old man. 27 going on 77

Well that's easy till the police get sleds no one can catch them so they feel safe to do what they want. Hard to catch something going a hundred as the crow flys when you can't do 30 going the long way. It is nice though when they are dumb enough to go straight home forgetting a blind man can track a snowmobile!

I
don't get me wrong I am an avid snowmobiles but I NEVER ride even close to wildlife habitats my dad whupped me when I was 14 and chased down a coyote people shouldn't do that but I do feel bad for those city boys who don't have no place to ride I used to have LOUD pipes on my sled but I traded it off so I could get something quieter so I wouldn't scare off the wildlife I am riding a nice fast quiet sled now that I don't go close to wildlife I groom trails on my pops land every year to ride on
