Seems to be a larger problem every year. Here in bismarck, there is talk of using taxpayer funds to build a shelter. My opinion is the more you provide, the more homeless it will attract to the area. Personally I think we already give them too much free stuff... What are your opinions on this problem, and the best solutions?

If we are going to give them anything, I would prefer it be a free bus ticket to any neighboring state!

FIFY

Problem is they will just end up back here again cause of the handouts. Most of these "homeless" people are druggies, lazy asses or have mental issues.

It's become a huge industry. The people making money off of the "homeless crisis" have no intention of solving it.

Much like the border….how many administrations from BOTH sides told us it was a nuanced issue or it took multiple levels of govt to fix…turns out you don’t need new laws you just have to enforce the current laws

Here is what I dont get, how many of these places do we need ? I can name 4 off the top of my head . The one they are talking about now is no questions asked kind of a deal , should we put that one across from the Gov Mansion and see how that goes

While in Philadelphia 10+ years back, a homeless fella offered to tell us some jokes for $10.

The guy I was with said lets hear the joke first. "What do you call a blackman that flies an airplane?"

We said " no idea", he said "a pilot you fucking racists", we laughed gave him $10. then asked why he was homeless. He replied to the word "I tried working years back, turns out that shit aint for me"

Sometimes its a choice, or like said drugs or mental illness. Either way housing them is not the solution.

Problem with these programs\handouts\free money is, the more they give out the longer the lines are getting to receive the "free stuff".

When they were showing the homeless in Bismarck on the news the other day, there was a lady sitting in a chair under the canopy smoking a dart and talking on her cell phone.

I guess her priorities are different than mine.

Our Churches always talk a big game about helping the poor, You would think they could maybe handle it. At least 2 times last year my Church held a special collection to send to people in need over seas. Maybe they should take care of the problems in our backyard first. The Vatican has more riches than most civilized countries yet instead of funding our faith I'm expected to pony up for religion books.

The churches are probably too busy collecting their $2000 a head bounty they get for bringing more poor homeless people into the country for the govt, I mean the tax payer to take care of.
