If you don't kill something, is the hunt a failure?
Thanks for the opportunities KDM.....you helped my sons learn life lessons on your land. It's not all about killing, it's about the memories and life lessons - Noah got lucky and downed the tall 8 on day one. He learned to honor the animal by taking good care of it after the kill. Jonah learned a different lesson with memories of having to hunt hard for his doe. Then also learning how to honor the animal by taking good care of it after. Absolute, life long memories were made with both! It's not just about the kill.....I'll stand by that.

I understand the lessons learned and all that i have failed more than not but when your hunting killing an animal isnt your number 1 purpose couldnt you just go hiking or bird watching and accomplish the same thing? If thats your deal carry on carrying on. I dont really care what makes people enjoy their experience in the outdoors but telling others how they should enjoy theirs is rather self righteous.

i get no joy out of shooting a little deer any more unless its bigger than the ones i have killed but if smacking that 100" two year old is your jam. I will give you a high five and say nice deer if it makes you happy.

When I was working in Wyoming in 2017, I seen lots of long range shooting for prong horn in August. The weird part is I only seen on spotter the whole time, that imo is the worst part since most times a shooter doesn't have much time to readjust for a second shot.

I have, I don't believe, ever asked any of my fishing buddies to hop in the boat to go fishing, and then just trolled around looking at the shore line. We always wet a line with the goal of whacking some pigs.
At the end of the day if the livewell is empty, they all tell me how much I suck and the such.

Speaking of boat fun... GF of mine several decades ago used go fishing with me, but she wasnt really into fishing so she would spend a lot of the time tanning and listening to music. Often she would end up with no bikini in the bottom of my boat, laying on a towel or whatever while I would fish from the platform up front. It was quite distracting at times, but I never did complain about it.
