How I do voles....

Mowing the lawn real short late in the fall has all but eliminated the voles out here. If they don't have the grasses to eat through the winter, they die or move on. Summer is another story though. My chickens flush'em out or drive'em under something when they get into the yard and Herc really enjoys finishing the job. My bane is cottontails or I should say Garden Vandals!!!!!!!! :mad:

I have tried mowing real short too but still have voles in the winter. It seems like the grass/roots doesn't freeze right away before the snow falls and they have a field day with the yard even though it is cut short. I usually trap them in the early winter if the snow is just a dusting or so. Peanut butter is a good attractant.

I hate voles.

A vole hat ...... :cool: A friend is going to have a muskrat hat made. I will have to tell him about the voles.
What does a vole fetch on the open market?
