How much line do you spool ?

I have 10-12 reels to spool up and I have a ton of older mono to use as filler . I bought flourocast but at the price I'd just as soon not fill the spools with it. How many yards of "good line" would you tie the knot at ?

Usually 50-75 yards

I usually do 100 yards. Try to buy 300 yard spools and then get 3 fills out of it. Plus with braid, I reverse the line one time halfway through its life assuming there is plenty left. I also use backing so that the spool is nice and full after the 100 yards is on.

It really depends on your target species and style of fishing. Jigging walleyes in under 30 ft of water, then 100 yards of top line is plenty. If you long line troll for king salmon that run like the dickens, then you might need 200 yards. If casting shorelines for bass is your thing with 30 lb braid then you may only need 50 yards as most times it's hook and winch. If casting for walleyes from shore with jigs or cranks, I would say 100 yards is plenty. Unless you are talking tailrace currents. Then I would put on 200 yards as some of those bigger girls can really battle it out. Sorry for the long winded and somewhat nit picky answer, but the devil is in the details. Good Luck!!
