[QUOTE="eyexer, post: 101483, member: 315"] I've had Lowrance, bird and now a Garmin. The Garmin is far easier to run, has a better GPS and the maps it comes with are great, won't need anything else. You can use any transducers together as long as they aren't close in frequency. I'm going to mount an older Vexilar Edge LC507 alongside my Garmin because I still have not found anything yet that comes close in regards to detecting fish, especially tight to the bottom. So I found a used one. The frequencies are fairly close on one of the two Vex ducers so I'll have to see if I can use the one. Garmin has been a leader in aircraft GPS since GPS came out. They have also been a top selling offshore unit forever too. They are just now really trying to bite into the freshwater market. I won't buy anything else but a Garmin unless one of the others come out with something staggering. Nobody in the world has had more problems or warranty horrors than Lowrance or Bird. Just spend some time on some of the electronics forums. And don't try to tell me it's because Garmin doesn't sell many units. When you add up the saltwater and freshwater together they probably outsell both bird and lowrance in total units. You probably won't find many if any of those two in saltwater boats.
