Many years ago, a number of young sat on the sidelines with signs of protest. Some even went north to spend the rest of their life. Some committed to jail for their beliefs.
But for many of us, we answered the call and went. We were American soldiers and did what we were trained to do. LBJ added 500,000 of us to that conflict and 59,000 plus did not survive. And there were some (1,500) we never heard from again. Your guess is as good as any as to their fate.
Please take a moment to reflect on those and all who serve.
As with all soldiers, we did what we believe was right at the time and that was to serve.
So today, offer a beer and a welcome home to those that made it and are still here. It would be a welcome statement for so long ago.
Walk at 1:00.

Thanks for the Vietnam Veterans Day reminder and thank you for your service. As a veteran of a foreign war myself and living in this country that is based on individual freedom, it is still mind boggling to me that in the past we have forced young men into military service and into combat. Mind boggling! That is why draftees from all of our wars and conflicts, and especially Vietnam draftees, are at the very top of my heroes list. My hat is off to you brother and all those like you. Welcome home!
