Couple of things. 1. As I recall, the earlier thread was filled with people saying he would simply just get off. Obviously, that is not the case. I'd bet he serves 15+ before he gets a sniff at parole.
2. Not a chance. Something in these people just snaps, and they are in way past the point of using reason. A not-local example, but a gal in my organization is now having her whole life uprooted, having to move back home to be with her parents because her husband of XX years snapped while being home and in charge of caring for two newborn boys (just a couple weeks old). He couldn't placate them and stop them from crying, so he just snapped and now those two babies are brain damaged to the point they will need life-long care. They already had a 3 year old, but something that one day with those two baby boys went horribly awry. No way do I think (and I don't know him) that he woke up one morning and said to himself that today is a good day to maim my two sons for life.
