BUT the Lithium comes with serrated lazer blades... boo, hiss

they have lost me as a customer - those blades are super duper when sharp but are difficult to find, expensive to buy, a hassle to sharpen

I now have a Milwaukee drill on a Clam plate, Honda head (backup or scouting), and 6"/8" k-drill augers

are my old SM augers with dull blades worth anything? one is brand new (I just kept using previous Lazer Mag 2 stroke auger when i bought the Honda Lite)

Have you used the Honda/k-drill yet? Just curious on another real world assessment as far as speed. I currently occasionally use the Strike master chipper auger on my Honda when ice is really dirty and its slow as hell and takes a ton of down pressure to drill. I'm hoping k-drill is a much better solution?

My mind is open.

Mine too for the most part. That's why I have gas and electric. What I don't have is endless amounts of money to constantly buy the "latest and greatest" these companies keep releasing. Time tells wether or not something is going to work. Gas has been around for decades. Can't say the same for electric. In these early stages of the electric revolution, I'm not willing to jump in with both feet. That's why I have a K-drill, because I'm not married to a powerhead that might be old news like computers (electronics) tend to be a year from now. What the magic number for voltage?

I've spent the last couple weekends fixing busted up and neglected snowmobile stuff - ha ha. I will report when I do try it.

I can't recall any auger that requires a ton of down-pressure with a chipper blade - yours sounds dull perhaps? The k-drill doesn't need it even with the very light drill/Clam sitting on it - so I can' imagine the Honda is going to make it require more pressure. But who knows - after decades of being a researcher I know to expect the unexpected.

The only reservation I have is how you have to bring the k-drill up to clear chips a couple times on deeper holes - if you don't they can get bound in the hole. Cycling up/down to clear ice chips with the heavier Honda head might become a chore?

My chipper has been like that since i bought the bit new, maybe i need to take a file to the point but the blades should be sharp as new. I think its maybe just my patience that wants it to cut faster and there for i press down on it. I know the Honda isn't meant for the chipper but it takes at least 3X longer and 3X more work to drill a hole in 24" of ice with it over the lazer, which is why i'm curious about the k-drill.

Bringing the bit up a couple times to clear shavings shouldn't be an issue with that light rig. I find myself doing that anyways with my lazer after fishing Winnipeg. I almost had to leave my auger stuck in the ice up there, lesson learned.

I would hope your Honda has the power making clearing ice chips unnecessary.

I had the Honda SM 8" lazer and 8.25" chipper. A sharp set of lazers spoils a guy. You switch over to the chipper and start thinking you could cut a hole faster with an axe.
