Well now let's see

This one is a statement not a question.
LM seem more catchable under ice. SM once located seem to have a very small specific window at dusk. This is from my "research". Go out on your folk's pond and slay them.

This one isn't really anything.
Huh? Did I miss a post or did you reply to another section?
Then this odd ball one waiting for an answer to a question you haven't asked and weather or not they made it and no they were wiped out in short order once world got out.

Now you're effing with me for no reason and that's painful emotionally.

I'm pretty sure you can but like you saw its normally blocked off at the normal entrance. the quickest way in is to drop off the end of Santa Fe Avenue. that will get you pretty much to the north tip of the pond. don't normally see to many guys out there save for the year they stocked it with a few hundred Chinook salmon.

I'm still in the dark Dean.

Also, how did the salmon fare?

What we were talking about is the park service closes the main road back to the pond in winter. The main road shows up on here as red with a blue dash where the gate is. The other way in is to come down Santa Fe Avenue and then walk down from there this past shows up in yellow. The salmon were a one off type thing and were pretty well gone within a couple weeks.

I'm sure most were caught since they stocked them just at first ice. we had a couple hundred broodstock rainbows put in our lake that were from 3 to around 15 pounds but none of them made it to spring. if you ever see these broodstock fish they look like mutants with many blind in an eye and jacked up fins and jaws and backs so crooked they made an share shape. that said that was the most fun fishing we ever had on that lake. the damn things had crap for eye mouth coordination so they tended up missing multiple strikes on the same lure often sending themselves and the lure 3 or more feet into the air. but man when you got hooked up to a 10 pound bow she would screen off half of my line in just seconds and made for one fun summer.

i have a spot in march that if i can get to it i catch smallmouth though the ice. most of the fish are in that 15 to 18 inch but it is none stop. the action is mornings for about 3 hours and a couple hours before dark. funny stuff . the dead sticks work the best but have caught them on red rattle spoon. one other thing is the bite is the best when the wind is out of the south at least 20 mph. I suppose the next time i go to cottonwood there could be a NDA drink fest going on.#$%^&>:;:cheers

I have been pretty successful catching largemouth through the ice. I've caught them in 8 FOW down to 20 FOW, at any point in the water column. caught them on tiny jigs with wax worms jigging or a deadstick, and had really good look on #3 and #4 chubby darters. They are a blast to catch.
