Braid + Ice = Bull Shiite

Unless in the fish house, or a warm ice day. Otherwise it is a suckfest

My deadstick rod now consists of an ice buster bobber with my second sonar in the hole.

Guy,

Outside of shelter--yes--sort of... Used to smear lard on it (Hill's logic). Can't report anything special except easier cleaning with pilot gloves stoked with hand warmers. Inside "tent"--no problemo. You just must pay attention to your shii'ite.

Ahab said his "deadstick rod now consists of an ice buster bobber with my second sonar in the hole."

My comment eluded to the way his sentence could be misconstrued as his dead stick actually having an ice buster bobber AND sonar on one line. Because of the way he structured the sentence.

yes - I even tried silicone vacuum grease and other high tech approaches - ice scoffs at such measures after a bit

More drinking and thinking: I recommend soaking braid with lard and taking the opportunity of hole dropping to learn the way of the baitcaster. It is ZERO fail with line manipulation and drag within established parameters. You ain't going to cast an 8th oz jig/crank into the wind but you sure as hell can drop down a hole and learn to use your thumb.

Not telling you an end/all--be/all. TRY to shelter from the wind and keep the hole clean. Again, no major problem in these tents y'all have.

I can only stand the shelter for so long and I start going stir-crazy unless they're biting well - something about shelters just gets old quick for me :(

which sucks - I am jealous of guys I see get all set up - they go in - I don't see them again for 6 hours. WTF?

You know damn right you're being Mr. Poop. That would be a fine reel if the crank wasn't on the wrong side for a right-hander.
