We are going to need tourism big time now that half the oil works have left the state.
Lots of near empty hotels out west here, guessing someone really effed up letting 15 new hotels spring up in our little tiny city these last few years.

Bring in the tourists, we need em

It has been said that each generation has to have "Their" war as each generation is too stupid to learn from their previous generations mistakes. WWI, WWII, Korea, Vietnam, Desert Storm, etc. etc. etc. Each fought by largely a new generation when they had the previous generation to use as guidance. Seems this generation of Oil Field folks didn't learn from the last Oil Field folks that had an oil boom and history is repeating itself. Sadly the consequences of that are painful and costly and the permanent residents have always had to pay the bill when the "Carpetbaggers" moved on. I wish the folks that are enduring this downturn of events all the best. I have many friends out that way that are NOT having a good time of it right now.

I am a half full believer, which is with the amount of moneys that was invested into the western part of the state would of never been possible with oil taxes. Hwy 23 was the biggest single biggest state funded infrastructure in ND history. New housing, new schools, new motels and new beginnings It took over a decade before the alerus center in GF to break even in revenue. Western ND will do even better the next time around even though those who squandered their fortunes there are others who knew better, just like some farmers who did the same. We will see what happens now in the next few years for ND values. There are millions of undocumented people not working in the US and with new technologies being developed it will be enticing to some to move to ND.

Yup, he likes to sport Fighting Souix gear on TV. He got paid for the ads but I think it was standard pay for a no-name commercial stand in. Tim Allen kind of does the same thing. He's a millionaire many times over but still does tourism spots for Michigan.

In the "City Experiences" video, my cousin is the UND cheerleader that throws snow on Josh . . . does that somehow make me famous??

I doubt many people will be worse off in the NW part of the state 5 years from now then they were 15 years ago. Unless the invested heavily in a boom/bust business... If people dont like it here, there are plenty of other places to live on this little blue planet.

I was watching a movie the other night with him in it. Can't recall the name of it. He was a counselor. On his wall in the office on the show he had a UND graduate certificate.
