Gonna attempt kayaking the Missouri from Washburn to Bismarck tomorrow. Anyone else do this. Will be our longest trek with the kayaks.

I've done the tailrace to cross ranch state park in a canoe. That's as far as I've ever gone South on the river. Take your time and enjoy the scenery.

We only got fifteen miles in. I think where we got out was Sanger boat ramp but I am not familiar with the river to well. That took six hours but we had three small kids with and most of the adults that were with weren't as ambitious as myself. Sure was an awesome day to do it though

Yeah Washburn to Bismarck is a long haul. If you had just a few adults with decent kayaks it can be done, but its a long day of paddling. If you end up with a south wind your not making it. I once did Stanton to cross ranch in an all day long downpour. It was fun for a while then miserable then funny again when it was all over.

I have done tail race to where the river boat dock is in Bismarck several times and in a canoe or cheap kayak it takes 24 hours of water time to get there. You can not paddle faster than the current in a canoe and just maybe a little bit faster in the cheap kayaks so after trying to bust our asses and get there faster realized what others had told us that had done it before, sit back just steer and enjoy the ride. Last couple times we have done in three 8 hour days or 4 easy going laid back days. I have talked to folks with those fast stream lined river kayaks that have done tail race to Keel boat landing by the river boat in Bismarck in 12 hours.

Yes, Washburn to Bismarck in one day isn't fun. Make it a three day event. If you want to have any kind of fun on the river, I would suggest no more than 10 miles per day for an average person. That way you can get out and relax on the sandbars.

You can't pull someone's mancard then give them fashion advice. Lol

Yeah everyone I was with gave me hell for that. And for wearing long sleeves and long pants since it was hot. But I'll let you guess who was the only one that left without a sunburn
