What should I use for walleye trolling? I also want to use it to troll on Lake Superior during the spring.

Both have their advantages. With snaps you need a guy to take it off when reeling in a fish. It sucks putting out lead IMO. But I do both.

I’m usually fishing with a few people so that doesn’t sound so bad, I’m leaning towards snap weights cause the price and I don’t need multiple setups for flatline trolling either

Are the scheels ones good? I’ve also heard offshore tackle made good ones
Ya the scheels ones are good. I have ran snap weights on lead some days and some ta just lead some it’s the mono rods with snaps . I let the fish tell me what they want . I can’t say why but either one of those combos out fishes the other. A good line counter is probably the most important to be consistent once you get the depth figured out they want it at.

Yeah I’ve been trying to calibrate my line counter with mono for the past 30 mins, it’s either too high or too low

I run up to 8oz bombs on scheels snaps and love them. They are quick and intuitive and grab braided line very well. The pads do get cuts in them after extended use and have to be thrown away, but the snaps are cheap enough that it's not a problem.

okay, say your fishing in 30 ft with #7 shadrap(goes about 9 ft deep)---how much weight for snap weight? Trolling about 2 MPH.

There are also additional factors such as how far ahead of the bait do you clip your weight, line type, etc. After you run them for a while you get the hang of it. If the bait is whacking bottom reel up a little..

To many variables to have a hard answer . You adjust as needed
