Im still rocking my PST II from 1997
I'm on #3 being the Wave +
My PST II I busted part of the pliers jaw off and I believe they replaced it with whatever the comparable was at the time. Then a couple summers ago was working on the batteries of my 4020 and it fell and grounded out 24 volts, she wasn't real usable any longer.

Magnacut steel and DLC coating isn't exactly cheap. Not sure if the DLC is that big of need as I have never had rust issues but Magnacut steel is an upgrade in quality especially for knife edges.

How much was a double cheeseburger at McDonalds 5-10-20yrs ago? They haven't changed those at all and they have got more expensive.
Okay, but $250 ???

Costco occasionally has a good leatherman deal. I picked up a skeletool/skeletool kbx bundle a couple years ago for like $65.

I've got an S30V Charge I bought right before we were set to go on an AK Caribou hunt in '10. That hunt got delayed a year due to weather. Beyond the combined 10days we were gone with the hunt and travel, and the extra 3 weeks it took us to get our gear home (long story), the Charge hasn't left my desk since.

I carry a SwissTool I bought in the late 90's in the door pocket of my pickup and a smaller/cheaper version in the door pocket of my daily driver. I hardly ever use any of them.

I almost always have a good and VERY sharp pocket-knife on me though.

I've had leatherman and a Gerber brand. Like a fool i tried to cut barb wire in a pinch and broke my leatherman, wrecked two gerbers doing the same thing. Never bought another. farmer pliers and good pocket knife is enough for me.

I've cut barbwire quite a few times with my Leatherman's. My PST II is did bogger the cutter on some really hard electric wire.

Lincoln, kinda...
I've had a Leatherman of some sorts for about 30 years now. The two I own now are the Leatherman Super Tool 300 model. While I see they now limit their warranty to 25 years, at one point it was lifetime and I've used it a couple of times. Each time they just send me a brand new version of whatever tool I've sent them.

At one point I ran across an Ebay listing for several broken Leatherman tools, usually a screwdriver broke off when used as a pry bar. I missed out on that one, or I'd still be set for life with pocket tools.

They are one of the most handy damn things you can have in your pocket. I use mine almost daily.

I guess in 55 years of rooting around I have used my pocket knife hundreds of times, but never needed a 38 piece tool set strapped to me.
I do keep a full tool box in my pickup, which gets used from time to time.

I’m one of those “anybody got a knife on ‘em?” a-holes who wishes he’d carry one - but can’t/won’t because he’s lame. 😣
Wish I had a dollar for every time I've had the opportunity to ask someone why they don't have their own leatherman.
If you ask me to borrow mine I will let you but also be prepared to get needled with jokes from me, 2nd and 3rd time you ask it gets worse

The scissors on my leatherman wingman is very handy for cutting dates out of tags. I always have one on me, the knife and pliers are the main things that get used but every once in awhile i have to use one of the other tools.
