Saw in my email that NDGF is finally transitioning entirely to online lottery applications. Sorry old guys who don’t own a credit card or have the internet.

ETA: 2018 deer lottery results are not out yet. ;:;banghead

It really should though, right?
I wouldn't hold my breath. I believe the main reason they claim it takes so long now is that they are scrutinizing the gratis applications much more thoroughly.

Makes sense. However, if the land cited in a gratis tag is the same as in years past, wouldn't that info be saved under the profiles in the new NDGF website, making it such that the only land that needs to be looked into now is land that has changed hands from years past? Not trying to start an argument, I'm just trying to give the benefit of the doubt to the NDGF in hopes that the system will improve from years past.

Yes in theory this should allow the lottery to basically be ran overnight and we should have our results the day after the deadline.......:;:muahaha

Yeah I couldn't get thru typing that without laughing out loud. We all know it's still gonna take them 2 months!

I'm not sure how the gratis system works, but does the land owner have to submit proof of ownership? If not, why are we putting it on the GF to scrutinize applications? Shouldn't the GF set parameters and if those are not met, the application is void? Wouldn't that make it faster? Just spit balling here as I have no idea how the gratis application process works. I'm sure some one can give much more insight than me.

Gratis apps are going to be available April 1st for year so most get checked before the reg deadline this will help speed things up . Heard that from a g&f employee . I always send mine in asap . Last year I got called for gratis check on a Sunday afternoon in June , which was totally fine it took about 3 minutes

They are - and many years ago they used to just take XX amount of tags out of the lottery for gratis and run the general population. Now they determine how many gratis needs to come out (by verifying each one) before the lottery.

That is the idea behind going to online only. Although if someone puts in "grandmas section" -- Similar legal descriptions have been used so I'm told -- they still have to go through each one.

Should have most land information on file already in past drawings, not like it's the first year they have used a computerized system

Why are you hunters always in such a hurry for the lottery to run? A buddy can text me at 9pm about fishing the next day and we're on the water by 6am. #$%^&>

Now imagine someone told you that if you want to fish tomorrow it had to be in Idaho or Oregon

But you had to apply there first
