The old "tension" technique fails me - tired of the tangles. Especially on noodle rods.

Any good approaches out there other than lure wraps - or taking the lure off?

My buddy uses the plastic mesh ones on all of his and really like them, no more tangles for him. I think his are clam but have seen other brands as well.
I have the Eagle Claw hard rod case so mine sit different and I still use the lure and tension method.

I tried the plastic mesh covers for two years along with using the tension method. I didn't like them, especially if I had a chubby darter or any type of swim bait that had double treble hooks.

I finally bought my striker ice transporter last week.... love that damn thing

I have a hard-sided box - the world's largest I would imagine - can't recall the brand

but rides across rough ice unhook the jigs/spoons/etc. and make a mess eventually

VELCRO !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It works for me along with the tension method. I should add that I use 2" industrial, you can staple or glue one end if you want, but not necessary.

I reel the lure all the way tight to the 1st eye that way loose line can't magically get wrapped around everything.

Where's the fun in that? You have to let them tangle and work your way out.....It's the fisherman's way!

I use those tiny snaps on all my jigging rods (except for panfish). I believe they are called No Knot Snaps or something. Work great. Super fast and easy. If you have tiny jigs they don't work, but for every rap, spoon and other jigging paraphernalia in my tackle box, they're great.

My efficiency went up too much so every once in awhile I tangle all my rods on purpose just so I can swear and struggle like old times while the other guys are catching fish :D

been using those many years - but that's the "removing the lure" fix

I like having a bunch of lures rigged and ready - grab the one you want to fish with

and at the end of the day - frozen and tired - I don't have the patience to grab the roach clip and removed them (some lures the fingers don't work so well)

I reel the lure all the way tight to the 1st eye that way loose line can't magically get wrapped around everything.

agree - sometimes by bails open up though and they bounce all over

maybe it's a snowmobile/sled thing that most people don't experience
