Whats the story? How are they allowed to do that? Unfathomable.

Nobody else could do that for irrigation or any other reason, so how can EOG?

One step closer to the end.
The last few years have been terrible. Even the local Canadas and ducks seem to be hiding. I remember when I hunted while in HS in the late 90s, it seemed even the snow geese were already here for the opener. I don't know if they're raising different crops in Canada or just milder weather is keeping them north longer. Or is the migration moving further west? I've heard that many times over the years but always thought it to be BS, it might be true.
yep in the mid 90's water everywhere

ducks everywhere - even every ditch had ducks LOL
Snow geese usually were down around the border abundantly before Halloween

the good old days -- no posting -- maybe 5% or less posted
now 5% or less is not posted LOL

Question for you duck hunters. Would you be happy shooting a limit of shovelers? How about gadwalls? Divers maybe? Been in enough bars, cafe's, and my own dining room listening to duck hunters bitch about all they are seeing is "shit ducks". Seems the only duck worthy of hunting is mallards. My nephews used to come up here from southern minnetucky and they quit because they didn't see enough mallards. They were covered up in teal, gadwalls, shovelers, and divers with a sprinkling of widgeon, pintails, and woodies, but those weren't good enough it seems. Something to consider.

$$$…. Don’t want to turn this thread political but we get what we vote for.

As far as the main topic of bird numbers I think you gotta assume it’s a combo and not just one big red flag. They go where there’s food, but we don’t have section after section of wheat and barley anymore. They go where there’s water but a lot of wetlands are gone (50%). They move with the weather but it seems summer drags on later these days. Canada’s farming practices and lower hunting pressure keep birds content to stay up there longer too.

There is talk of the feds lowering limits since reproduction for almost all species keeps plummeting. Pretty wild considering all the efforts that were working gave us record numbers not too long ago.

Shovelers no, too skinny. Gadwalls yes. Late season divers, yes. Love teal. Shit ducks means different things to different people. To me it’s bad tasting, small ducks like ringbills or ruddy’s. To some it’s anything not plumed out. To fellas who want to be or act like YouTube hunting goons, it’s anything without a green head and curls. Sorry not saying that’s what your nephews are. Light hearted jab, just like calling out walleye snobs.

My dog dont care what bird it is and i can cook any thing with the teaching of my cajun friends. Made a pot full of duck pastalaya that i told every one was mallard but it was four coots or pouldeau as they call them down south. They didnt believe me till i showed them the pictures i took to prove it

Dont get me wrong a big spin of 10000 mallards in snow flurries in a cut corn field is tough to beat

One more note. I wish they would have kept waterfowl rest areas around. I know there was bellyaching that all they did was attract guides, but they kept birds around all season.

Our representatives only care about one thing...money. They have no concern for conservation/wildlife. You would think by now hunters and anglers would realize it's time to vote them out, but of course they'll keep getting re-elected.
