The search was called off until spring on Thursday, Feb. 10, but then days later the search continued with the discovery of new evidence. Corson County Sheriff Alan Dale released the following statement on Thursday, Feb. 10, concerning the search. On Wednesday, Feb. 9, Central Diver’s LLC, Pierre Fire and Rescue, Pennington County/Rapid City Search and Rescue, Brown County Search and Rescue and Coddington County Search and Rescue conducted a wider search of the water. At the conclusion of the day, Clyde Oswald and his vehicle were still not found. The belief is still that Oswald and his vehicle are in the water. At the conclusion of the day, the search efforts have ceased. The search will resume when the ice melts and we can safely deploy boats to access areas that we’ve been unable to get to thus far. The following agencies have assisted the Corson County Sheriff’s Office with the search: Mobridge Fire Department, South Dakota Highway Patrol Air Wing, Standing Rock Game and Fish, South Dakota Game, Fish and Parks, Bureau of Indian Affairs Police Department, South Dakota Highway Patrol , Civil Air Patrol, Central Divers, LLC, Pierre Fire and Rescue , Pennington County/Rapid City Search and Rescue, Brown County Search and Rescue, Codington County Search and Rescue , Walworth County Office of Emergency Management, Corson County Office of Emergency Management, South Dakota Office of Emergency Management and Carlson Services. Then on Saturday, Feb. 12, crews returned to the scene when new video footage showing a vehicle on the ice where Oswald’s vehicle was thought to be. The search was concentrated on the west side of the U.S. Highway 12 Bridge. Divers and boats returned to the area, but not- signs of the missing man were reported found at print time. Law enforcement officials reported ice conditions continued to deteriorate throughout the week limiting the use of search options from the ice. Oswald and his son were ice fishing Friday, Jan. 28, along the old rail grade between the railroad and Singing Bridge. His son returned home but Oswald did not. Law enforcement and emergency services have been searching for him since that time. Members of Oswald family, friends and other members of the community are continuing to search the area for him.
