I have the the mongo Eskimo popup. It's great, but heating ends up being lopsided with one heater.

Anybody have this heater? I use a short stable 10 lb tank I use with a sunflower and this heater looks good for more "360 degree" heating.

I wonder if that thing is loud like the sunflowers or quiet like the buddys, that would be my determining factor. I cant stand the sunflowers anymore after going to buddy heater. I actually just purchased a big buddy just to use when i go with my friend in his bigger house and annoying sunflower.

Ahab is right. That has way to much output if it can only be turned down to 30k.

What about getting a small fan to circulate the air flow like a big buddy heater it has a fan on it to circulate the air flow. Just saying

I should have added that it is for taking non-fisherpeoples who are from warm climates.

I run the single 8000-15000 now and the high setting isn't that dang hot when in the teens. If you're out in sub-zero 30 would be quite tolerable - and a guy can vent. Did you guys know they have doors?

Anyway - thanks Dads but I'm OK with the rating.

Does anybody have one and have used it? Noise output and PITA factor is what I want to know about mostly.

Also - have you guys been in these? They're uuge and lots of ice surface area to pull away energy.

That 10lb tank would be getting sucked hard and likely freeze up as well. Might get 2 hours or so on low.

5.6 hrs on a 20 lb tank ... eww

I calc'd 7.2hr on a 10lb.

21,600 BTU/lb in propane

x 10 lb tank that's 216,000

216,000btu/30,000btu/hr = 7.2 hr

Hmmm... how did you get your answer? What calc did you make?

of course a guy never gets the last lb

I fished in one of these last Friday and Saturday. We had good heat from one single tank buddy heater. Outside was windy and in the low teens. I don't remember the BTUs. Of course we are all experienced Norseman, so 50 is nice. It did get a little slippery in there since the ice was melting from so much heat. Brought out some more pieces of pink Styrofoam for day two. I did leave my coat on and I did quit sweating once the sun got low.

How do you keep from breaking those stupid hubs? Somehow, we broke one on the second set up (third trip overall).

It was ok sized for three guys and a dog. We had plenty of room for six holes (MN). Bait was in the middle so everyone could reach. Used it for spearing the first time out. You can have a really nice long hole for two spears.

Make sure all of the vents are open if you go with a 30,000 Plus BTU heater. That's going to remove a lot of O2. Maybe all of those quilting holes let in enough air - until they frost up.
