Got letter from bank on my boat loan, paid in full.:;:rockitsaid title or lien release card was in envelope, Nope nothing but letter. Called bank and asked where my title was and they said after a 15 min hold listening to elevator music, that nd does not issue a title. First boat I have ever owned so seems strange to me that there is no title. You guys with those high class $$$$ boats how do you prove its yours without title? Just your boat license info?:;:huh

They are correct. ND does not title boats. The plus side of that is not paying tax on your purchase.

No titles issued. just a registration card and bill of sale.

Congrats. Time to upgrade!

You can request a title on anything. I have had numerous Sea Doo personal water crafts over the years and titled every one of them as well as my pontoon.

Congrats for no more payments!
I had that for several years and for some stupid reason this year I decided to sell my paid for boat and take a loan out and buy a little nicer boat. Hate payments and can't wait till it's paid off.

In ND?? I'd love to hear how you did this?

Take the registration card from the G&F into DOT and proof there is no lien on it and bingo they will print one out for you. Not that hard.
They will ask you why and I say it makes me feel better having a form pf physical proof of clear ownership.

Yep too many people think as soon as they pay something off its time to buy something else and the payment game never ends. Once your clear of payments start banking money and don't buy anything else until you can pay cash. Flip the tables on the payment game and save before you buy, not pay for it after. Once you have to write a 40k check you may find yourself cringing and realizing you don't really need that upgrade.

Don't think I will ever get different boat. This one fits me, wife or pooch just fine. Used 1 gal of 2 cycle oil in 8 years, hardly broke in yet. Got a few small dents from a god awful loading down on bitter lake in sd, 40 mph wind came up out of nowhere and was blowing right into dock, don't ever want to do that again. 16.5 aluma-craft with 50 Yamaha, 35 gal livewell, side consel and all the electronic gear I want. Can pull it down the road with our ford ranger no problem. Kids can figure out what to do with it when I am dead, until then I got a lot more minnow money, and she will do 28 mph. on a good day so the lakes that I fish 15 min. at the most and I am where I want to be.:;:rockit

Silly question, but how exactly do you prove there is no lien on it?

They take your word for it.
I had to title my new Harley this spring, they asked, I said none, and that was the end of it.
If a bank has a lein the require you to bring the title to them with them listed on the title, usually anyway

Had receipt of sale for a couple PWC I paid cash for and I had lien release forms from the bank for my last pontoon and personal water craft I had financed exact same as you get from financing a regular vehicle once its paid off.Thumbs Up
