Bed Wetter, you're telling me you are concealed carrying and are not thinking about using it to defend yourself or your loved ones?

I do lots of things for the safety of my loved ones. For example, I keep a spring-loaded glass breaker on my key chain so if I'm trapped in a room with no clear exit I can easily break out a window should some terrorist show up looking for victims. I could really do a lot of damage to people and property by shattering glass. Perhaps training and licensing should be required before I put that little $10 do-hicky on my keychain ;-)

YOU don't need to lecture me on the Second Amendment. I have been a stanch supporter of the NRA for over 35 years.

your posts prove otherwise. but thank you for being a member of the nra as they would approve of ND HB 1169

you don't even need a law degree to understand this:

A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.

don't limit, don't restrict, don't 'check', don't ERODE.... there's nothing to debate.....

So YOU are saying there is no restrictions on carrying because of the Second Amendment. A felon, 12 yr. old or some one just released from a syc ward have the right to carry a gun? All i'm saying is the more people are educated and trained, the better everyone will be.

if that was 'all you were saying' I would say 'I concur'

but you said: I think anyone who wants to conceal carry should go through a course and show proficiency in handling a firearm. I don't even like the "Class 2" license.

and to that, I cannot agree

if the amendment was written by (and the country I love was founded/shaped by) 'felonious psychopathic 12 year olds' then sure, because we'd know their intent, and I'd be freely choosing to live here under those rules.

North Dakota knife law is short and to the point. It allows for the ownership and open carry of any type of knife.
It is illegal to conceal carry gravity knives, switchblades, dirks, daggers, stilettos, scimitar, swords, or any knife with a blade 5 inches or longer.
You can have my glove box scimitar when you pry it from my cold dead hands.

My point was that even though it is a constitutional right, there are still restrictions. We can disagree on whether or not there should be some kind of class or test and a license for CCW, which is current state law. Again, I'm just stating that anyone who owns and uses a firearm should train and educate themselves as much as possible. Nothing hurts our cause as much as accidental shootings or people waving a firearm around with disregard to others. I was pretty sure i would ruffle some feathers with my opinion, but a good civil discussion like this does everyone some good.

So, moving in another direction... Has anyone here gone through a good handgun shooting course lately that they would recommend?

And your cocktail swords are relevant to HB 1169?

Good point. Let's get this train back on track. I happen to know that the NRA supports this bill. Get on board friend! Let's not have dissension within our ranks!

If we could get a National carry license, which I'm sure would have to have shooting proficiency and lecture to obtain, how would you stand on it?

One thing that hasn't been pointed out yet is that a person can get a class 2 license at age 18 but this law would not require a license if you're 21 or older. In deference to those that would like to see training/testing/education for young people, there you have it. If you're 18 and you want to carry, you have to take a test and get a license. Once you're 21 you're off the hook.

Inalienable human rights transcend borders. I don't support laws that contradict that notion. With that said, progress is made in steps. If that means anyone can carry freely in his own state but obtain a state-issued, nationally recognized permit to carry across borders, I'd support it. Such a system would challenge the erroneous concept of federal supremacy, kind of like how states are legalizing marijuana (please don't let this become a weed conversation).

are you implying that a felonious psychopathic pot-smokin' 12 year old should have the right to carry a gun?
