If we could get a National carry license, which I'm sure would have to have shooting proficiency and lecture to obtain, how would you stand on it?
Dude we already have it. It's called the 2nd amendment and unfortunately we've allowed states to trample over it. It's about time that gets fixed. This law would do that in ND at least.

I lived in AZ when they passed or got rid of a similar law. Open carry was always legal there. Having gotten a ccw before the change I feel that class was one of the most informational and important classes I have ever taken. Being a open carry state and their vehical laws were much less strict. I liked the way things were.

If there isnt the permit process I would support some type of firearm saftey/rights/laws class. Maybe make it a high school requirment or add it to hunter saftey.

This would probably be a good replacment for sex ed since who is what and who poops where is so fd up now. I feel if people are going to carry a gun they should have the information to be a respinsible gun owner. Knowledge is just if not more important as capability.

TOTALLY awesome dude.

Excellent.

I throw this type of humor at some of my younger buddies, and they get uptight and a word fight starts.
What happened to being a man and giving each other shit, and having fun.

Back on topic.

The second amendment is the only document needed in your pocket for an American citizen, who is not criminally ineligible to carry a gun concealed or not. This is my understanding, but I am a deplorable, and tax payer so take it for what its worth.

When will they decide on this?

It'll get referred to a legislative committee first (I think that's happened) and it will be on the committee's daily agenda at one point. People will testify before the committee in favor of or opposed to the bill. The committee then discusses any amendments needed to the bill. They'll vote on it and send it back to the legislative body with a recommendation to pass or not pass or amend the bill. So in short, it's still going to be a little while.

So on this topic, I got a postcard in the mail yesterday from BCI. It was a reminder to renew my CWL. I was thinking, "hopefully this bill passes so I don't have to." But then I got to thinking, it's still a good idea to keep my license because of how much easier it is to buy a firearm with one. At places like Scheels and my local FFL, I can show them my CWL so they don't need to call in the background check to the FBI NICS. Saves a ton of time. For that reason alone it's worth renewing every 5 years.

My point was that even though it is a constitutional right, there are still restrictions. We can disagree on whether or not there should be some kind of class or test and a license for CCW, which is current state law. Again, I'm just stating that anyone who owns and uses a firearm should train and educate themselves as much as possible. Nothing hurts our cause as much as accidental shootings or people waving a firearm around with disregard to others. I was pretty sure i would ruffle some feathers with my opinion, but a good civil discussion like this does everyone some good.
there are only restrictions after you disqualify yourself.

After some good discussion it passed 34-13

I do believe the Governor said if it comes to his desk he will sign it.

Just renewed my CCW about 3 months ago, and my Utah permit just last week.

I don't always carry in just ND, but when I do I will no longer need a permit.

I've never carried out of state anyway. This saved me some cash this year as I was due to renew....a few months ago.
