I don’t understand when teams fire sale off their players for almost nothing like the Colts are doing. What are the chances that 5th rd pick they got is going to be Quentin Nelson or that 4th rounder is going to be Deforest Buckner….not very good. To top it off they’re shopping Taylor…..oofta
If there season is lost and they dont think they can re-sign him, its better to get something for him. Plus getting rid of your best players should ensure a higher draft pick in the first round.

I think I do. You have players like Nelson and Taylor who are still in their prime, but would probably be pretty happy to go to a competitive team given the relatively low chances of them turning it around any time soon with the Colts. So, the players get a chance to go be competitive while the team stockpiles draft picks which will start the youth movement for the Colts. It's really hard to build a dynasty, but somewhat easier to build a team that will be competitive for a 3-5 year window with a core of young players building chemistry and going through the different stages of their careers together.

You can always sprinkle in a few good veterans through free agency, but it's nearly impossible to put together a core of good young players by anything but the draft.

They don’t have a first round pick, they traded it for

I understand that in a vacuum but they don’t really know what their ceiling is now. They were playing damn good football last year until they lost their QB to injury and they haven’t had their top 2 receivers much or at all this year.

Nelson's contract is up at the end of the year and Indy was not going to re-sign him for big money, so they trade now and at least get a little value in return, vice nothing if they keep him for the season.

It has happened more in baseball than football, but sometimes if and when you trade the team asshole the team gets better.

Only if you let it be I haven’t seen any political over tones. It’s great entertainment every week add in some fantasy football and it makes every game interesting

Isn't everything pride in every pro sport political? If your answer is no, then answer this, when is straight day or weekend?

As a lifelong Vikings fans, I love giving Packers fans a heap of shit and try really hard to pretend I hate them, but tomorrow will be their second Thursday night game after a Sunday away game this season, and that friends and neighbors is horseshit. How does the players union agree to this? I can't find anything that says they get paid extra for it, so that does not appear to be an incentive.
PS. The NFL claims to be all about player safety and welfare, and sure the teams have all kinds of health care professionals looking after them, but if a damn high school player is too beat up to walk right on a Monday after a Friday game, the NFL is full of shit.
