Then THEY (Game and Fish) need to adapt the units to meet their apparent conservation needs!

I’m still in the “they don’t want more deer” camp. Seriously
FWIW , "they" NDGF get hit from all sides, They most likely do and don't at the same time. I remember one fellow at a meeting arguing till heck wouldn't have it over deer eating his trees, he just wouldn't give up and took up most of the meeting. A lot of farmers and insurance companies don't want more deer , they eat into a lot of profits , a lot more that we realize . To be honest, urban hunters have less skin in the game than anyone else. It is what it is, I too wish there was an answer.

I don't really mind the deer eating my crops, gardens ,trees and what not. Back in the day ,venison got a lot of people through some very tough times and I feel like I owe it to the deer to make sure they thrive when I can. It would be nice if there was a perfect answer to the gratis but there isn't, NDGF won't go there because they know better then to slap the hands that feed them and us. I truly wish there was a better way to proceed. I'm all open for suggestions and ways to help this situation.

no cultivation within 50 yds of every stream and river would turn things around in short order

but no… right to the damn edge - and I mean within a foot - of every single creek and river bottom

here in the red river valley anyway

I saw it coming 25 yrs ago - couldn’t believe what I was witnessing

There are plenty of mule deer in the eastern part of the state. Seen a dandy with a few does between Woodworth and Medina a few falls ago. Brother in law filled his any antlered with one a couple of years ago in 2F1. Buddy got about 15 crossing Hwy 3 North of Tuttle last fall on cell video. Seen a nice buck coming out of a gravel pit just NW of Kensal. Drug a small buck off of Hwy 15 north of McHenry last summer. There are enough around they do not surprise us at all anymore when we see one.

I will have an extra hog or two this fall that will need "hunting". I can release them into my garden and you can belly crawl across my yard and up over the dike to get into position to wait until he stands up for the perfect shot. It'll be just like those hunting shows. If you want it filmed, I will make sure to keep the bucket of pastries and produce out of frame. Only $250 and no tag needed. I even have processing facilities for rent. Case o' beer should cover it. Think it over fellas.

You joke, but you could probably add a zero to that and legitimately cash in on it.
