I seriously doubt they will pave the emergency spillway in this case, but they may shape it. It does not look like there's much of a shape to what was there already. Wide and flat is preferred. They are left grassy intentionally with the understanding that it will erode when in use and require dirt work to fix it, but this thing looks like a braided stream to begin with and that ain't good.
That might be true but I have to believe the people of the state won't except anything short of it being paved after this mess. Not necessarily talking paving to the bottom but at least paving a pad up top so it can't get washed out so easy. Just wonder if for the short term they couldn't lay down some of those monster sized 2 inch thick rubber mats. You would need to bolt the ever loving shit out of them fixing them part way up the wall and to each other like shingles. I've seen them come in huge rolls that are ten feet wide and quit long. Would think that could help get the water over that first hump helping to keep the erosion to a minimum. Those mats the Corp use might help too but not sure how they are built.

Kind of like big giant band-aids! Does that include the Governor coming in and giving it a kiss to make the boo-boo better?

This is the area where they were putting the rocks/concrete mix around the bend of the road. Heck of a hole it created!.

The thing that amazes me is the one day old concrete they part at the base of the spillway actually held up very well.

high-early concrete mix. I've spec'd some projects using high early mix and we'll make full strength (4,000 psi) in 2 days.

there's a couple non concrete one-liners to be head in that one!:;:cheers as for the concrete itself that's all probably true but remember this is California I'm surprised they didnt couple Mexicans out there with a wheelbarrow and some Quikrete. Although I probably trust the Mexicans work over a lot of The Californians and it sure the hell would be faster!

Nothing on the news so most likely fake news. They have pulled around 40 feet of water off her and the breach in the main spillway is stable giving them the ability to stay ahead of her if this storm doesn't set some kind of record. The whole area is going under flood warning due to the rivers rising but that's storm related not dam related.

Picked up some local news and they're evacuating Oroville and additional southern communities. Said the dam hasn't failed but they're sending 100,000 jetting down the overflow spillway and it's cutting into the hole pretty good. It was going over the top of the spillway earlier.

Yeah a week ago. As of now it's 50 feet lower then the emergency spillway it topped last week and they are releasing 59,000 cfs and no one is being evacuated due to the dam. The lake is in fact still dropping although that will change here shortly.

Yep, what Dean said. So far so good as far as official reports go.

From the other forum I have been following this on, one of the posters who was the source of some of the good videos and pictures has mentioned that his source (unknown who it is), has said that there are 7 large cracks under the emergency spillway now.

the source also said that water has compromised the pilings of the regular spillway.

Some workers at the dam have apparently been let go because they posted pictures of the dam/spillways on social media. official reason was violating work policy regarding social media. I have no idea what pics they posted or if there is any truth in the claims from the other forum.
