When I was little: I saw those "oranges" on the ground all around "here": When I win the lottery; I want a tree felled and a few/couple gun stocks fabricated.
16ga on "20" frame (probably not as pretty as walnut without expert staining) :
Haven't witnessed any OO stocks on shotguns or sporting/hunting weight/style rifles. I've seen pics of lots of BR rifles (mostly built/owned/shot in TX) using Osage and Mesquite.

The stocks on the first thread were Sydney Sweeny. The 2nd thread got in weeds about Claro vs mesquite. I liked the look of all pics not blocked. In full disclosure; I wouldn't GAS if OO had no figure. It'd be a "nose thumbing" of sort.
Back in the day of longbows and recurves by Fred Bear, Ben Pearson, & many others, osage orange was the wood of choice for staves by bowmakers. Still sought after by many for archery custom applications!
