STATE LAND, our land is blocked from us, it is leased out. With the loss of CRP, the small amount of state owned land should NOT, NOT be leased out. It should be reserved for public use and conservation of wild life. There are 44 Million acres in ND, our 706,000 school trust and other state acres are leased out. This is SHAMEFUL!!, the legislature needs to give us our state land for pubic use only. We have BILLIONS in our state savings account, we don't need the money from lease payments, we need access to our state owned land. WHO is with me for a REFERENDUM???

What im thinking is nd residents need to have places to walk/hunt animals/game. Those a holes take those spots from us. Its the nd legislators that we need to contact for hunting/acess

Hey i see it i have a treestand on a school section every year the people that lease the grazing rights take it down. Its b.s they cut the straps and its none of there business but they like to hunt so they think they should take my stands down on the schoole section. Thats bullshit imo. People leave stands up in lewis and clark game management area every year. They are ladder stands and esentialy grand fathered in . I call b.s

Did you file an actual report ? Theft is a crime and If the sheriff ignores it or does nothing take it up the ladder. I believe they are by law required to investigate.

ND Century code
44-04-06. Peace officers to report law violations. The state's attorney, assistant state's attorney, sheriff, deputy sheriff, or peace officer of any county, township, city in this state, having any evidence, knowledge, or notice of any violation of any laws of North Dakota shall investigate and seek evidence of the violation and the names of witnesses by whom the violation may be proved. A peace officer shall report the information to the state's attorney of the county in which the violation occurs and shall assist the state's attorney in the prosecution of the violators of said laws.

So two things I see , the school land where is hunt is purposely grazed to look like a parking lot plus then one bull is put into this land and then posted . Bull is taken out the day after season closes .

As I understand the state land rules. If I am the renter I have the right to post that land. However, when posted "NO ONE" is allowed to hunt. That rule is mostly used when people have cattle grazing on that state land. In my area very little state land still has cattle grazing during the deer season. Earlier it is probable that grazing is taking place.

many ranchers and farmers who lease state & federal land think the land belongs to them.

Ya. I call bs. There are grazing plans on school land. If this is actually happening, you need to report it and it should be investigated. The land would be taken away and not be able to rent anymore. It has happened.

What is your plan? A Senate or House Bill and after you lose, take it initiated measure for redress of grievances because the legislature got it wrong?

Your next stop is the Secretary of States Office. It takes 25 sponsors for a petition. They will have to sign an affidavit they are in this for the long haul. Circulators are needed to collect signatures.

When the schools get involved saying your group wants to take money away from the education of our youth your ballot drive will be doomed, and your circulators will fall away like chaff.

Good luck.

Fritz, how is the lease income from school land currently managed? Is it managed for school use only or does it go into a general fund. Not arguing with you but would just like to know.

I hunt state sections unless they are loaded with cows or pastured to nothing but there is usually something worth hunting on all of them, I have never run into land locked state land.

School lands need to provide revenue to the schools. Currently hunters bring no revenue to the table. I think they should tack a $5 state lands access fee to every resident general game and habitat license and $20 to every non resident general game and habitat sold. In return state land cannot be posted to public access and cattle have to be off by a certain date in the fall. Be pretty tough for ranchers to argue against that considering how cheap the rent is on some of these school sections.
