They seem very fast in the water for such a large animal. I have seen numerous deer in the water and have had some come up to our boat in Alaska.

Ive seen deer swim across Sak, I've also seen some dead ones wash up on shore that didn't make it. What the hell possess them to decide to go for a several mile swim across a lake that big.

A couple years ago we were fishing just out side of rodeo bay on Sak. A deer came tearing out of the Vanhook loop and hit the water swimming headed towards Government bay. Wasn't sure if it would make it so we cut it off using the trolling motor and it went back to shore.

Hope it keeps walking to unit M9. My son has a tag for one this fall. Can't tell you how excited I am for hunting this fall. He's got the any deer youth tag and a moose tag.
