Might look into a Small Munsterlander. The couple guys I've known that have had them were quite happy w/them has house-dog/hunting-dog combos. I haven't hunted w/them, just BS-ing w/the owners. Former co-worker near Omaha and a former member of our skeet/sporting clays team who moved away. They're roughly "Springer Spaniel" sized with a rough/wiry coat similar to a Draut or GWP and are a "versatile/pointing" breed. 6 friends have or have had 7 Pudel-Pointers between them and I've hunted with 4 of them. The 2 of the 4 I hunted with were superb. The 3rd is coming around but it's a tough compare against the 1st 2. The 4th is not quite 7Mo but this fall he appears to be a standout tracking wounded bird MOFO!! Opening day he trailed and eventually caught a barely wing-tipped rooster 300+ yds in dry/hot wheat stubble over a couple hills where we/I couldn't see him anymore. I did get to see him catch the bird after trailing it to a very small patch of cover on a field edge. I didn't see it but his owner told me the pup had to trail a very alive Hun 150+Yds about a week ago. Pup didn't see it go down as he was focused on the group rather than the single. Owner put the pup on the track and he trailed that partridge down. All that said, the PP NEEDS significant exercise and stimulation or they become mischievous pretty quick. Majority of the PP's I've been around are out of Cedar in ID.
